Problems with Sony Wide Screen Projection TV!
I bought a new Sony HDTV 46' Widescreen Projection TV almost a year ago - I recently noticed about two weeks ago that you'll be watchin' a film and the yellow starts to fade in and out. It'll do it for awhile, then play fine for a couple days, do it again for an hour or so and repeat. You can put a movie on pause, if there is a white background or white object and watch the yellow bleed in and out. I've tried Flash Focus - doesn't seem to help. I've untangled the power cords - didn't help. Any idea's on what could be the problem and what it'll take to fix it? I've called Circuit City and they've been less than helpful, even though I have a warranty on the TV.
Any clues or suggestions? |
What's the model number? It sounds like the Sony Flicker problem. Head over to the the HomeTheaterSpot.com and look through the Sony forums where it's tlked about a lot.

Since it's still under warrenty, I say take it in to Circuit $hitty and see if they'll replace it. They might just tell you they'll "fix" it, which is a judgement call on your part if you want them to touch it and be without a TV for a few weeks.

I will be doin' that next Friday - as that is when I will have time off of work. Apparently Sony has issued a thing on this and my model number is effected. They have to replace all 3 CRT's and related circuity. Seems like a lot of work and I really don't want to be without my TV for extended periods of time. :(
I would rather them just replace it with a newer model, if possible. Doubting that happens though. |
The warranty for my 57 inch Sony said that they would do in home service and that if it was not repaired within x amount of days they would replace it. Just FYI. You will want to check that out.

Like Bill mentions if your problem is the same as the flicker problem that many people are discussing at the Spot. Most if not all of them said that it was fixed in home and their TVs weren't taken back to the shop to be worked on.
