Anyone own the $360 1911 Popcorn Machine?
 

I'm thinking about getting this unit but can't find much info on it review-wise.

That is a nice popper, a friend has one. What kills me on that site is the damn warm butter dispenser on that site is $350...that doesn't seem right. Also if you get it make sure to pop with coconut oil...less healthy but best taste.

Too bad I want to upgrade my HT equipment more than buy a popcorn machine right now.

DOes it come with a stand or do you have to put it on a tabletop? (Which would be lame.) It's not that big, 18x18x24, which means probably no stand... oh well...

There is an optional stand. Some vendors sell it bundled.

Are you crazy? Get on Ebay and buy an original popcorn maker. We bought a 1957 model (huge...but it works great and looks great when all the lighting is on) from a defunct theater in western Massachusetts for $180. We used Ebay's "search local items" feature so we could save money by picking it up ourselves. No warranty of course, but worth the gamble.

Basic rule of worth - Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it! I personally do not want to (gamble on a) purchase a used machine and not have a warranty of any kind.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to call anybody "crazy" in a mean-spirited way! It was more of a spur-of-the-moment comment. What I should have stated was that it makes more sense to me to pay less and get more. An original theater popcorn machine was probably built to last...and the most that can go wrong with it is a heating element burning out. Plus, you get to tell your amazed friends that it is an original theater popper! This reminds me of folks who will pay hundreds of dollars for reproduction bubble gum machine when they can buy real ones for much less! On further thought...I put Pergo on my kitchen floor instead of real wood. Maybe I had better shut up!!!

I thought buying an original, movie theatre popcorn popper was a good idea. It isn't a modern piece of high tech electronics. So if it does break or is broken, it shouldn't be hard to fix. I wish I had space for either the "replica" or an "original" but I will just have to settle for microwave popcorn for now!

sonic, I've been around for a while and I'm with urchinn on this one. Of course, this popcorn popper is *not* in any 'bargains' forum, but I too think its nuts to pay that much for this type of popper (with no stand) when you can get a real one for much less..... Crazy!

My $$$ go where I wish them to! Now, if you wanna pay for a machine for me, then you feel free to choose it! :)

BTW.. I don't need a stand as it will go on my concession stand counter top, just like in a "real" theater.

We're talkin popcorn... we're all nuts not to just go with microwave popcorn.. it's the most economical way!

A-I don't have space for a "real one". That is going to fit perfectly (if I choose to get it) on s shelf that is built in under the stairs leading to the basement.

B-I prefer buying new stuff that I can return if I don't like the way it works and can have fixed if something is broke.

$360 aint much money when you consider the investment in the projector, surround sound and the DVDs for that matter.

But I understand your point of view too. I bought the Donkey Kong table used. Of course, a new one would have cost about $2K vs $400. Much bigger difference there.

Just a thought, the 1911 4 oz doesn't have a warmer tray or old maid tray.
www.stargatecinema.com is going to have a power buy in April '04 so you may want to wait until next year so you can get a 1911 8oz or Theater pop 6oz instead at a great price!
