a question about DirecTivo with dual tuners...
my Sat system currently only has a single LNB. I want to buy the DirecTivo with dual tuners. I am also going to get a dual LNB. now do I have to run two cables from the dish to the tivo or can I install a diplexer and send both signals thru the one cable and then spilt it when it hits the reciever? will this degrade the pic quality?

One (RG6) cable is all you need. You already have this in place if you are currently using a sat receiver. The DirecTivo receiver has two built-in tuners, so no need for a dual LNB. The dual LNB is for use when you have two separate receiver boxes.
A diplexer is for use when you want to utilize an off the air antenna and wish to send it's signal along the same single cable as the sat.
Hope this helps!

One cable coming out (with a simple splitter to send it to the two inputs on the DirecTivo receiver) is not sufficient. I don't think there is a real difference between the two tuners in the DirecTivo and two separate (regular) DirecTv receivers.

Sonicflood is wrong. You need dual LNBs, because even though you use one dish, you are receiving signals from two seperate satellites. One signal goes through one LNB and down one cable, the other signal through the other LNB and cable.

Very true, you must have two cables running to utilize both tuners. Now just wait until you get three or four of those units (like me). Then the wiring can become tricky!
