Progessive Scan with regular TV question
I don't have an HDTV just a 32 inch JVC with component video. Will a progressive scan player provide any picture benefit on my TV? I got two different answers from my local Best Buy. I was looking at buying JVC XVN50BK player. I also want to play the different formats of DVD R's which this player claims to play the + and - formats and the RW formats for + and -.

Okay. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if I'm asking the same question, but . . .
Here's my situation. I have a 27" analog Zenith monitor, no progressive scan capabilities obviously. I have a Panasonic DVD player as my main unit and purchased a CH500 DVD player as my all-region, PAL->NTSC DVD player.
If things continue to go well, I'm getting a new TV sometime in the next few months, with progressive scan capabilities. However, what I'm interested in now is a better all-region PAL->NTSC DVD player that I can use as my main unit.
I understand that most of the modded DVD players don't work so well with TVS that don't feature progressive scan because of the conversion chip. I've heard this about the Malata players and the JVCs. So. First, is this true? Second. Is there a decent machine that I can use with my current older TV that will also take advantage of my new TV's progressive scan feature?
