DVD player problem

DVD player problem
Maybe some more technical guys can help me out.
I have a Sony DAV-S300 DVD/radio/receiver player. I've never had a problem until recently. I bought Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and when the movie gets to chapter 51, the player freezes, then sometimes skips forward or backwards. At first I figured it was the disc since it did the same thing on my wife's Powerbook. We tried three copies from a Circuit City, then a copy from Best Buy, but the same problem is still there.
My sister tried the movie on her Samsung player and it worked fine. So obviously its my player.
Any advice anyone?
