PLEASE help me decide which 34" tv to go with...

I think I have it narrowed down to the Sony KV34HS510 and the Panasonic CT-34WX53. I have seen both, but not side by side. They both have similar features. The Sony is $100 more. Is it worth the $100? Are there any features that make one a better buy over the other? I have been researching this non-stop for the past week or so and I'm at the point where I need some other people's advise (not the salesman's, lol). I was set on the Panny, but after reading the review of last years model on cnet, I'm not so sure. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Just curious...are you set on 34"?

Reason I ask is I helped a friend set one up and after just a day of viewing he decided to return it because to be honest, it's just too darn small...

I mean if you don't watch 100% WS HDTV, watching analog in 4:3 or in some cases stretched mode analog is torture. Watching in 4:3 was like watching a 25" regular TV but paying 4 times the price to do it.

Unless you have space contraints and have no way to save up some money, then go w/ 34", but if you can save up, I bet you could find a decent 42"+ size RPHDTV for a few hundred more than that 34" will cost you..especially knowing how high priced Sony's are...Seriously..almost $2000 for a 34" THEN ya gotta buy a receiver?? OUCH!!

Just my two cents..

Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the info, but I definitely want a widescreen TV. It's going in a bedroom, so I also want to stick with a direct view screen. I just found out my price difference between the Sony and the Panasonic is actually only $60, so now I am definitely leaning towards the Sony. Any more input would be appreciated. Thanks!

honestly, the panasonic is even better than the new xbr. just my 2 cents, but the pany's i feel have looked better for the past few years. and for the price difference between the wx53 and the xbr, DEFINATELY go with the pany. Removed sales pitch
