DTS "Splash Screen" Sound and others....
Hey all...
I now have a real nice home theater system, I now prefer DTS 5.1, however i have noticed that that DTS splash screen (you know, the Piano one) doesn't sound that impressive to me. You would think that they would utilize somethine with a bit more sound, and spacial relations... The DD 5.1 and THX splash screens sound great, I was just suprised with the DTS piano one. Are there any other DTS splash screens?
Thanks,
Matt

DTS splash screen
There is another DTS splash screen on older titles (not sure on the date when I say older), but I think it sounds awful. The DTS logo appears from the foreground (from behind the camera angle). Anyway, the sound is very harsh - I would compare it to somebody's fingernails on a chalkboard. I actually turn my system down, when it comes on. While the "piano" version may not sound absolutely incredible, I prefer it over the older one.

Yea.....
I was so excited to hear the piano sequence with my new system, and as you agree -- it was nothing special -- i was bummed. Oh well...
Also, there is a post somewhere on here that lists all the splash screens and the dvd's they show up on...
Thanks,
Matt

I liked the piano version better. It might not be too impressive, but I liked it for its elegance.
BTW, you can download the VOB files for the DTS and Dolby splash screen here
Too bad they've removed the THX trailer.

I want the THX trailers and DTS splash screens on DVD as well... so I'm waiting on DVD Demystified to release the 3rd version of their book to get the DVD disc with it, assuming the disc contents are the same as the 2nd version.
