Audio Equalizer?

Does a hardware attachment exist that brings the high/low range on DVD audio closer together, so that I can stop playing "seasaw" with the volume nob on my audio receiver?

Sounds like you're looking for a compressor or volume stabilizer. Doesn't your receiver have a "midnight" setting?

Also check your DVD player. Some have settings to compensate for that as well.
