If you can go up another $50, Sharper Image still has some Panny XP-30's left. They have the almighty Faroujda chip in them. But if you are just looking for no chroma bug you could easily pick up a Panny S35S (no DVD-A) for about $100 or a Panny S55S (with DVD-A) for about $130. Both decent players with no chroma bug. If it was me, i'd pony up the extra $50 and get the XP-30 while you still can. Very much worth it. You also might be able to find the XP-50 around somewhere (which I have and LOVE) for a little more (with DVD-A). Don't know if DVD-A is an option you might want.

Sound advice... Also, Circuit City is selling the Panny F85S this week for $130... Same machine as the S55S but it's a 5 disc changer. I have one of these as a secondary player and while not as nice as a S-F chipped machine, it's probably fine for most users... DVD-A sounds sweet on the F85S and it has all of the features that most people desire... Prog scan, zoom, 4:3 aspect scaling, onboard DD/DTS decoders, and so on...

I think i'll go with the Panasonic DVD-F85S. I don't have a HDTV so i doubt I'll see a difference. And that onboard DTS decoder is great(only have a DD decoder now). I'll go check it out, hopefully I can find a black one.

alright I got the last one from CC. One problem with the audio though. I turn on all settings(DigOut) and when running the setup audio test only the two side speakers work, but if i play a movie all 5 work. I've messed aroung with the settings, etc. and can't figure out why its doing this(although it doesn;t matter much).

You could also check around and see if you can find a closeout Panasonic RP-62 (get one without a "B" in the serial number). They have been floating around in the $100 price range.

If the back of the F85 you got is the same type setup as my XP-50 (with DVD-A), the only way you are going to get sound from your speakers through the setup screen is to hook up the analog terminals on the back of the DVD player to the back of your amp and select multi-channel in on your amp (i.e. center on DVD player to center on back of amp, L&R front on back of DVD player to L&R on back of amp, etc...). I had the same dilemma initially (and it drove me mad), luckily I semi-knew what I was doing wrong at first. The instructions are written in some cryptic Panasonic language so you have to read them carefully or you'll miss something.
