Sony DVP-NS4000 Problems

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

The Sony DVD player I've had for about 2 years now has stopped working and it behaves strangely.

It's been in the same spot, behind tinted glass doors on my entertainment center....clean, dark and cool.

I put a disc in, I saw the Sony welcome screen for a few seconds then it started showing some weird static, the welcome screen went away and it was just black with "fast motion" type static lines across my tv.

Now it acts stubborn when ejecting the tray....stops halway going in sometimes, won't eject other times.

My question is....is it worth it to take this $120-180 player to a repair shop? (I'm not sure how much I paid for it.)

Or should I just cut my losses and get a new one??

Defititely get another one...you can buy great DVD players in retail stores for less than $180.
