Best DVD Recorder?

Which would be the optimal dvd recorder that has some decent editing features and has good progressive scan capability? Would perfer to be -R, but dosent have to be.

Also, dvd's recorded with this particular player must work in most dvd players.

Thanks....

I would definitely recommend one with a built in hard drive if you plan on doing basic editing. I have the Panny DMR-HS2 and I love it. Haven't had any compatibility problems with the burned discs yet.

It might pay to wait, if you're looking to buy. Pioneer is coming out with a couple DVD recorders this summer, one with a hard drive and a list price of $1,000, the other without the hard drive for $625. Pioneer, of course, uses the -R format.
