Price search for powered subwoofers?

Is there some website that I can search for price comparisons on powered subwoofers? More specifically, I am looking for the best deal on the JBL PB10 subwoofer. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The Price Search function top right of this page will send you to Pricegrabber.

Try www.pricescan.com .

BTW, I'm not a big fan of JBL subs. I prefer the Sony WM-40 and some of the AudioSource subs in your price range.

Skar,

Why is your preference with Sony on the powered subs? What type of price range should I consider? Any particular type of sub I should look into? Here are my meager system specs:

Panasonic PT53WX42 - 53" 16:9 TV
Panasonic RP62S - Progressive Scan w/Faroudja chip
Denon AVR-1403 - Receiver
Klipsch Quintet Microsystem - Satellite speakers w/wall brackets
(For now)...my little Aiwa subwoofer that came with my first HTIB setup that "supposedly" is 100W.

EDIT: For the component type label that I sometimes need since I am a newbie, and I thought someone else might like to know what all the numbers mean.

EDIT Part Deux: Spelling.

Ok. Since I am a total noobie when it comes to Home theather, could someone provide some help on what to look for in subwoofers? I appreciate the help.

What's your budget?

You can get JBL PB10 for $165 + $30 S/H @ Etronics. Sony SA-WM40 goes for $135 + 35 S/H also at Etronics. But before you laid down your money, I'd suggest you check out what people say about the A/V component.
Here are the JBL PB10 review page and the Sony SA-WM40 review page.

Thanks for your help, but I can't really tell what they are saying. Is there a website for subwoofer or AV Home Theater newbies? Sorry to sound like an imbicile.

Already showed him the link for audioreview, he said he doesn't know what they're talking about... thus no reply.

Thanks for the links. I have been doing some research, and I think I have some more insightful questions.

Is it better to have an on/off switch on all subs or just the JBL sub? On my current crappy sub, it has the auto on/off switch, and I hate when it comes on automatically based on the signal it is given...it sounds too abrupt. Is this just because of the cheap nature of the sub?

I am leaning more toward a crisp and strong bass sound, but that might be out of my pricerange of approximately $350.

Again, thanks for all the help.

gabeon,

folks have a tendency to recommend what they own, a lot of times because they have "been there, done that". I auditioned several and can't comment on the JBL in particular, but can say in that price range you should be able to pick up a 10 possibly 12" Velodyne that you will find VERY impressive, especially for the price. I have mine set to "Auto" and have never had a problem with the abrubtness mentioned, and haven't had a problem with it shutting off during a movie. I compared it to a couple of models that were much more expensive, and had more impressive specs but just didn't have the sound I liked as much as my velo!

get the new deftech supercube reference. 1800 watts of pure heaven, and only $1799, a steal :)
