What to use to clean a big screen , screen.
I am cleaning house and am about to clean the screen on the bg screen I don't have a protecter over it so it is just the screen. I just want to make sure I on't mess the screen up in any way. What do I use? Thanks

I talked the the owner of the local Sony store, and this is what I got:
If your screen is dirty (smudging, fingerprints, etc) wash with ditstilled water with a caouple drops of ivory liquid soap. Rinse with distilled water, and dry. If no smudges and you are just dusting, skip straight to the rinse and dry. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a package of clean cloth diapers to use. I use one to wash, and a second to dry. I think it ws like $6 for 6 diapers. I also turn the diaper frequently while washing, to expose a clean area of the cloth and not continue to rub dust against the screen. |
thanks

I am not sure about the Ivory soap. I use a microfiber cloth (something like you would clean glasses with) and if I need moisture, I spray a bottle of water directly onto the cloth. This seems to get all smudges off. Do not spray on the screen as the runoff could get down inside of the cabinet.

( I also have a well with high mineral content, so I use the last of a bottle of water) |
Diapers are damn expensive to be used as single-use wipes. Are there any other alternatives that won't cause micro-scratching?

I do it the old fashioned way grab a single paper towel and some glass cleaner and spray the top portion only. I use the single towel to get every nook and cranny on the screen, I own a 2 year old RCA F38310 Direct Tube.:)
Off topic I use Ivory Snow liquid on 'new' DVD discs before playing them. |
