Toshiba 3109 Owners - Tried this region-free hack?

There are two different region-free hacks listed at this url. Has anyone with a Toshiba 3109 tried these? I don't own any other-region discs myself, so I can't test it out.

I have the 3109 but also have no non region 1 discs...maybe I should try picking one up just for fun.

Tried it and it did not work...but I tried a PAL disc so that might be the reason.
