Subwoofer and Fiber Optic cable question

I just bought a Pansonic Reciever (model PANSAHE100K) because I heard good things about it from this forum. I also purchased an "AudioSource SW Fifteen 200-Watt Powered Subwoofer" from Amazon.com because I wanted a powerful sub that was value priced. I am clueless however as to what kind of cables are good. I need a subwoofer cable to connect the sub to the reciever. I also need a fiber optic cable to connect my Xbox's HD AV pack to the reciever. Is it best just to buy the cheapest cables that work, or is there really a big difference in cables? Any suggestions? Also, what do you think of my new equipment, did I buy crap, or did I get it right (I was on a $450 budget)? 6ave.com had the reciever for $227 plus $12 shipping and it was $300 everywhere else, so I think I got a deal.

I am looking at getting this subwoofer cable for $15 at Best Buy--->http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=...t=783&scat=806 . I am looking at getting this fiber optic cable at Best Buy for $20 ---->http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=...=783&scat=807. Anyone have experience with these or know if they are of good quality?

Go to www.partsexpress.com. Buy their Dayton Audio cables for subwoofer, fiber optic, etc. They are excellent quality for the price. You will spend less than if you bought cables at Best Buy, and you will get equal or better quality.

Thanks

I appreciate the information. That is exactly what I was looking for.

For $200 at J&R you could've had the better Yamaha HTR-5540 receiver.... But the Panny appears to be a decent receiver (despite Consumer Reports featuring it!!)

Don't bother with partsexpress. Waiting for their website will make plasma TVs obsolete!

Check out the AR cables at www.buy.com. Just search AR-070, then click the "Acoustic Research" link on that page to see all of their products.

You do not need a "sub cable" for your sub. After a suggestion on another board, I bought a standard "video cable." It works perfectly. I think the 12' length was about $13.

I couldn't agree more. Although, I got my optical cable for my xbox in a neon green off some guy on ebay. The rest of my system, including the component cable I have plugged into the Xbox HiDef A/V Pack, is all wired with Dayton Audio stuff. I love it, and the price can't be beat.
