HELP! Question about my Apex 1200 Remote

okay, so i am cheap and finally bought a DVD player.
i got the Apex AD-1200 cause it is so damn cheap and i had a gift card to WallyWorld.

Anywho, get it home, plug it in, lalala....everything appears to work fine (plays VCD etc).
HOWEVER, i started to mess around with the remote control only to find that it was changing things on my television! A.K.A. my Apex remote, and my NEC (tv brand...*****) are able to control each other's devices. but they don't control it in a useable way, rather the buttons are completely random! (e.g. i press fast forward on the DVD remote, and it turns the tv to channel 4).

HELP! what the heck do i do! i want to keep the DVD player and i am too poor for a new TV! what is going on? are the infared's just messin' with eachother?
suggestions please!!!

sometimes remotes can be programmed to control other devices. Is your Apex remote capable of doing this? Find out by reading the user manual that came with your DVD player.

edit: or the easiest thing to try if it's not a programmable remote, would be to return your dvd player and exchange it for a new one.
