No sound using digital coax cable, need help!
 

I have a Sony NS315 dvd player with digital coax out but haven't been able to use it until today when I picked up my new receiver, the Onkyo TXSR500. I hooked up the S-video and I get the picture just fine but no sound. I have the cable hooked up from teh dvd player to the receivers coax input but no sound. I'm waiting on my new speakers to arrive so I am using just the front left, right and center from my old setup and I get sound just fine thorugh the FM Tuner and when I watch tv, just no sound on the dvd player. What did I do wrong?

You might have to go into the DVD player's setup menus to tell it to use the digital output.

I'm not familiar with that particular model of Onkyo receiver, but with my Onkyo 595, the digital inputs default to particular devices. If the coax input you're using doesn't default to the DVD player input, you'll have to reassign it.
