I need a multi-region dvd without the chroma bug, any thoughts?

Hey all, I am in need of a multi-region dvd player that does NOT have the chroma bug, it must have component video out, but does not need to be progressive as I am using an external line doubler on my WS-55819, I am using the panasonic dvdrp62 now, it is fine, but there are some other region discs that are 16X9 that I cannot get in region one and would like to have, also would like a player with a little sharper picture than the panasonic.
Thanks

Anyone know of a good regions free player??????

I recommend you check out the International Forum. There are many threads about region free players there. Look for keywords Malata, JVC or Cyberhome.

Akai are known for producing all region players at a decent price.

If I'm not mistaken, the Philips DVD963SA does not suffer from the chroma bug and can be made region free.

true, but it only converts PAL to NTSC progressive, and the Italian Stallion here needs interlaced. Plus it's $450 vs $250 or so for JVC/Malata and $70 for the cyberhome

I'm sure he'll make some buck on this 6th film and be able to afford it. For clarification, though, it reads more like progressive is not necessary rather than interlaced being a requirement. Anyway, it's a potential solution, albeit not a particularly cheap one.

I don't have any first-hand information, but I can say that I came VERY close to buying that before ultimately getting the Philips.
