Pardon my ignorance...a LASERDISC question.
Just wondering if CED laserdiscs are the same as the regular laserdiscs? Or am I confusing them with the old, old, old style of disc player [RCA, i think it was...] where you put the whole plastic case in the slot.
Thanks for any replies. |
CED is the early 80's analogue needle-groove video player. If you want more info go to http://www.cedcentral.com/
You can usually get a player for $50 on eBay and it is pretty fun to play around with. |
They are not the same. There is no such thing as a CED laserdisc because CEDs are not laserdiscs.
CEDs are the RCA system in a plastic sleeve. They are more analogous to a vinyl record and laserdiscs are more analogous to a CD (not a perfect analogy, of course). Laserdiscs were actually on the market before CEDs and outlasted them by a long time. |
Ah Ha! Thanks guys.

I remember Radio Shack selling the CED players in about 1982. My neighbor had a player and a few movies (Patton the only one I remember). He worked there and always picked up the new items. That was back in the day when Radio Shack was the King.
