Free HD recievers for satellite?
 

Many people have posted that their local cable companies are installing HD recievers in peoples homes for free. I was wondering if DirecTV ever plans on doing this when they start showing more channels in HD.

At least one person has done this in the past but I don't know the details. He shared how he did it on avsforum a few months ago. Search over there in the hardware forum for "free" and it should come up.

BTW, cable cos. are giving them away b/c people also usually have to subscribe to digital cable to get HD, which takes a cable box anyway. And they're not for sale in stores (yet), unlike HD sat. boxes.
