Odd Component Video Problem
 

Hardware:
JVC DVD Player xv-s300
Akai (Samsung TXL2791 clone) TV

All was wonderful in the world until I started hooking up my son's playstation 2. The DVD component video would scrolll and no DVD audio would come out.

I disconnected the playstation (and everything else to the TV/DVD) and the component video still scrolls without sound.

Regular video inputs work without a problem.

I don't know what is going on...

Trying to collect a little more information, I connected the video out from the DVD (Not the component out) and plugged into one of the component inputs of the TV. I got non-scrolling video (without correct colors, of course.)

Please, please help. I'm a doctor so I promise I'll return the gift with free medical advice! hehehe

Hey doc, how long have you had these symptoms? hehehe...

Seriously, try a different component cable. Sounds like yours might be bad, especially with no audio output. Otherwise you might have to your display component inputs examined ;)

24 hours of symptoms... it's killing me! :)

Changing cables didn't help. :(

On some sets you have to enable the component video. This should be somewhere in the menu system. Also, some sets require the enabling of S-Video which then causes problems with component, make sure this is off. Make sure you have the right color jacks on both ends of your component connection. Check and see if component out is still enabled on your DVD player. Last but not least try unplugging both the set, and DVD player from the wall outlet. Wait a few minutes then plug back in. You would not believe how many problems get solved that way. Good Luck.
