I just got my panasonic 53 inch tv today and have problems please help

okay I hooked it all up and got ready to watch a dvd. I am not happy with the picture at all. It looks kinda blocky example. When you zoom you dvd to much. I have a progressive scan dvd player but I do not see a difference with progressive and non. Also I went into the settings to turn on 3d y/c filter and it will not let me turn it on why is this? What do I need to do to turn this on because I think it would help greatly. I allready did convergence 1, and 2. If anyone can help me out it will be greatly appreciated.

Progressive signal on? Hooked up via component inputs? Is it set in full mode? Are you using an anamorphic widescreen DVD?

Dunno about your 3d y/c filter, been awhile since I messed with my set... I have the previous model of the 47"... I'm not sure what all has been changed on the newer sets but it should be fairly similar...

Anyhoo, first things first... You need Avia or Video Essentials, kill the contrast (picture), make sure you're using all of the above (full, anamorphic DVD, component inputs, progressive scan on) and visit the Panny forums over at hometheaterspot.com or check out the tweaks at Brett's panny.tv site for the 47". I'm sure a lot of them still apply and if nothing else, they also have a Panny forum there...

You won't be using your 3d y/c filter with component input and the set shouldn't allow adjustment to it when you're using that input. Is that how you are connected?

You'll probably find that you should turn the sharpness way down when you calibrate too. Give that a try.
