What do you think of Memorex TVs?

I have a friend who's considering buying a Memorex 27" TV, with s-video, (model MT2272) on sale at Target for $179. We've looked for reviews on this TV and have found none. Anybody have experience with Memorex TVs? Are they decent? Shes' wanting to stay under $200 if possible but doesn't want to buy a piece of junk.

I have no idea, but my guess is that Memorex branded TV's are probably made by someone other then Memorex and if you can find out whom and ask if this third party TV is OK.

I had one since August 2000. It's quite decent, has good image, and I never had a problem with it.

- 27"
- Less than $200
- Not a piece of junk

Not to be rude, but I think one of these criteria is going to have to give.

Not rude at all. I think you're right on the mark. She's spending a chunk of change on a good dvd player and theater system and was looking to save some on the set, but we've talked about it quite a bit and I think she's decided to go ahead and pile in a little more for a better TV. She's now looking at either a JVC or a Panasonic.

BTW, she's opted for the Onkyo sound system and a Sony DVD player. Stepping up from a 19-inch TV with VHS. She's gonna be blown away.
