For DVD/VCR combos: can you just hook up the cable and watch a DVD too?

The TV I want this for doesn't have A/V inputs (I know, I know, it's an oldie -- this is for the guest room anyway). So, if I get a DVD/VCR combo and just hook up the cable through the VCR, then to the TV, can I watch DVDs as well? Or would I need to actually run the A/V cables from the unit to the TV as well (assuming I could do that with my TV)?

Thanks guys!!

Yes, at least for the Panasonic PV-D4742.

Otherwise, I recommend getting a cheap RF modulator so use can use any DVD player you want.

Yep, at least the ones I've looked at. I checked out a few models for my Mom and they all seemed to be able to do that. Picture quality is not that great, but I suppose it's the same as any dvd player going through an RF mod.

Isn't the RF cable the standard that goes wall --> VCR --> TV? If so, then it sounds like I'm in good shape since I have tons of VCR --> TV cables.

Thanks guys!
