Anyone have any ideas of why this could be happeing? is the DTS chip messed up?

Have you checked to make sure a bird hasnt made a home out of the speaker, using the port as the entrance?

I was going to say it could be a bad connection between your DVD player's digital output and your reciever, but if you are using the built-in decoder, and not the digltal output, then this shouldn't be happening.

If it's a high pitched chirp it could be one of two things. Either it's a bad speaker cable or your tweeter is shot. DTS is mixed a little more aggressive than DD so that's why you would notice it.

Could be that too if it's coming from just one speaker. Try switching your rear right speaker with the rear left from the back of the reciever. If the chirp goes to a different speaker, then it's either your reciever or dvd player. If it's on the same speaker, it's the cable or the tweeter.

Its odd. If you play DD every thing is fine but with DTS there's
chirping. It could be the DTS codec in the player that is suspicious
provided your connections are correct.

Should check it out.
