Code-free - question from a newbie

hi,

I would like to buy a code-free DVD to play both US and region 2 DVDs, but would also like to maintain the best picture/sound quality. I will be using an HDTV monitor and a component progressive output. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Check out the Malata / JVC posts in the International DVD forum here. If you can't afford one of those models, there's also the Cyberhome 500 player w/ progress scan that can be hacked thru the remote to be multiregion, and from what posters say on other forums it does proper anamorphic PAL conversion to NTSC. Best Buy and Amazon sell them for under $100.

Malata dvp 520 multi region player

The DVP 520 from Malata is listed at $269 at hkflix.com incl. free delivery. I haven't heard about this other player, but I'll check it out (under $100?). This sounds good too.

I agree, if you do not mind spending more, go for the JVC or Malata. I currently am trying out the Cyberhome 500 and if I can get to the bottom of my one problem, it will be a steal!
