$199 MALATA DAV-3600 at CONN's (Texas/Louisiana)

HI All,

For those who want the High-End "Play anything NTSC/PAL" MALATA but don't want to pay through the roof.

CONN's Applicance / electronics Store (newspaper ad)

NO-NAME (Item DVD6500): 210 Watt Home Theater System for $199

I recently purchased MALATA 3600 (MALATA 520 unit with integrated 6-channel amplifier, digital tuner, 5 satellite speakers and subwoofer) from pclandonline.com for $235 + $15 ship. While going through ad inserts waiting for Turkey to cook, I noticed what appeared to be my MALATA on Conn's. Upon closer examination, the ad picture was nearly an exact match for my system with the only execption being unknown brand logo next to power button whearas MALATA is above power botton. Ad picture is an "exact match" for MALATA pic on DAV-3600 manual.

Friday at 7am with two region 3 DVD's in-hand I went to Conn's

Box: Same deminsions as Malata
Remote: Exact duplicate (ugly egg shell white) down to buttons
DVD Player: Exact duplicate - played both region 3 dvd's (Dark Water & St. John's Wort) - Setup Menus appear identicle (NTSC & Pal TV Options)- X Y scaling worked fine, AM/FM radio, etc.
Speakers: Exact duplicate
Manual: Exact duplicate (except front cover)
No of units at store: +25
Staff: No idea about unit features

Get em while there cheap.....

It looks like you can order the sytem from Conn's website:

They charge $29.95 for shipping, and for some reason added tax although I am out of state. With tax the final price was $248.

Jay G,

That wasn't there yesterday at Conn's web site - good find

Charging Tax to out of state residents is not cool.

Star Wars II DVD sounded great, really puts the system through it's paces. The more I use my Malata, the more it imprsses me.

is there anyway to manually choose your region code on the Malata. I just got one at Conns and while it played my Malena region 2 pal and my ayumi hamasaki region 2 dvd. I can't seem to manually select the region like I can with my APEX.
