Convergence/ Calibration Help!!!

Hello. I preparing my set so that I can really enjoy my movies over the holidays. I a new guy to this stuff so I'd appreciate any answers. First, I heard that there is a disc I can put in my player (I think its called calibration) that makes my Picture look great for my dvds. Is this true?. Is that the correct name? How much does it cost? Is it usable for playing dvds on the XBox? Is it possible on mostly all DVDs?

Also I need help with the convergence of my TV. I have a 27" FS Akai. (Its the exact same model as the 27" flat Sasung Dynaflat) Even if you aren't aware of this TV setting for convergence. How is it usually done for TVs.

Thanx in advanced for the answers. :)

you should have a menu that will let you do all the adjustments, if you can adjust that tv, the dvd is called avia and you can get it just about anywhere, amazon has is for around $40 i think,
it's not a dvd that you just put in, you have to run all the calibrations off the dvd, people usually get it for large rptv's..

You can also use a disc called "Video Essentials." I usually hear that "Avia" is better but I managed to get a free copy of "Video Essentials" and it seemed to work fine.

It's a DVD that basically takes you through all the sound and video settings on your TV. Nothing too extreme, just brightness and contrast, things like that. I did it to my 27" JVC TV and it made a nice difference in quality. It was actually more helpful setting up my surround sound.

Also, you can sometimes find the disc for rent at a video store.
