ProLogic II and Metroid Prime

I've been waiting so long for a Metroid game and the audio is supposed to be really good. Is it worth it to buy a new reciever for ProLogic II. Has anyone played any Gamecube games with this? What would be a cheap reciever to go with my cheapo five speaker setup?

I just made my first home theater purchase last week with the Onkyo HT-S650. I chose this system mainly for the GameCube's DPL II. I've been playing Eternal Darkness, and the sound is amazing. For instance, when certain supernatural beings are speaking, or when you cast spells, the voices seem to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. The volume in each speaker kind of fluctuates so the source of the sound is very distinguishable and localized, but not in the same position for very long. So far this is the only game I've played that specifically says DPL II on the box, but based on this game, I can't wait for Metroid Prime.

The receiver that came with this system is called the HT-R500, and from my understanding it's essentially the same as the TX-SR500, MSRP $320.
