Surround Sound on a 2 Channel DVD Player

Hi

Newbie questions so sorry.
I currently have an LG4210 DVD player.
I believe this only plays DVD's with 2 channel audio.
I am wondering what will happen if i connect a 6 speaker surround sound system to this?
Will i get sound on all 6 speakers?
Will it sound ok or terrible?
And if so whats the difference with 5.1?

Thanx

Any DVD player is capable of playing back a DVD in surround sound. You will need a surround sound receiver to connect it to.

You may want to check out PaleBlueDot's FAQ thread as it answers alot of sound related questions. I thought all players could handle at least DD5.1 although many of the older ones did not play DTS.
