polk psw250 sub question

I have the polk psw250 sub, according to the manual it is best to connect it to the front speaker output on my receiver, and then connect my fronts from the sub, and set my reciever to no sub and large fronts. Is this really the best set up for this sub? Am I missing out on any low bass from the sub channel? Or does this get routed to my fronts when I have no sub selected? This just seemed odd to me. It does however sound pretty good I am getting nice deep room shaking bass. Just wondered if any other options might give me more.

This method uses the crossover in the sub.

Is it the "best"? Good question although you sound happy with the results. Try connecting the sub seperatly and the fronts seperately and see what the difference is!

I've tried to hook the sub up directly to the receiver, but it does not sound as good as the way Polk has in the manual. Not sure what brand of receiver you have, but I have to hook up an extra sub for the real deep bass on my Pioneer.
