Widescreen Burn-In

Let me start by stating that I have a Panasonic 47" widescreen HDTV (PT-47wx42).

How prevalent is image burn on widescreen tvs? I always watch television in stretch mode ('Just' setting on my tv) and do not play video games. However, I do watch a fair amount of 1:33:1 ratio dvds. I don't like to watch them stretched (as it ruins the point of OAR in my mind), so I have two grey bars on the sides.

Can anyone tell me if I have any big worries about image burn? How long would it usually take to burn in? I probably use the tv in 4:3 mode for an average of 6-7 hours a week.

Thanks in advance.

I think you're fine, especially with the grey bars. As long as you've adjusted your contrast with Avia or VE you should be good for a really long time with those viewing habits.

The key really is to have varied usage. It sounds like you're watching a fair amount of stuff that fills up the screen, plus you're using the grey bars, so you should be good.
The only thing you should check is to make sure you have the contrast turned down to a reasonable level. The factory settings are usually maxed out.

X, what is "VE"? Is that the cheaper version of Avia?

VE is Video Essentials. It has the same MSRP ($49.99) as Avia. If you are looking for an inexpensive setup disc try Sound & Vision's Home Theater Tune-Up. It isn't as good as Avia, but it is less than half the price.
