Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to fix it with a manual degauss. The procedure isn't particularly difficult. In fact, you can buy a degausser from Radio Shack and follow its instructions. Or you can bring it into a TV repair shop and have them do it. Again, it's a fairly simple procedure that shouldn't take more than a few minutes. That probably won't stop them from charging you an arm and a leg for it though. This should fix the problem if you haven't magnetized or mishaped the shadow mask too badly. There are other things that can be done for slightly more severe cases, but there is a possibility that it's so far gone, it's beyond fixing.
