non-shielded speakers

How far should I place non-shielded speakers from my TV? And what happens if they get too close, even for a split second? Does this hurt anything?

At least 3-4 feet is the minimum distance, I believe.

If they get too close, even for a split second, your TV implodes!

Actually you'd probably see some wavey gauss lines on the TV from the magnets of the speakers. That's about it. If the speakers were there forever, and were causing gaussing the entire time, you'd damage the picture tube. A split second won't hurt anything.

If they are too close you will know it because there will be some strange colors on your TV. If left there too long it can damage the tube permenantly.

I don't think you can move the speakers back and forth in a split second, but that's just my opinion.

At least 3 ft. away from the t.v. if your speakers are non shielded or it will permanently damage you t.v.. And it sounds much better.
