Philips Dvdr 880

MY FRIEND BOUGHT THE PHILIPS DVD RECORDER 880 .
WHEN HE COPIES A FILM TO DVD+RW OR DVD+R HE CAN NOT GET IT TO PLAY ON OTHER STAND ALONE PLAYERS.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF HE IS DOING SOMETHING WRONG OR IS IT THAT THEY JUST WON'T PLAY ON OTHER MACHINES.

I'M THINKING OF BUYING THE SAMSUNG DVD HDD40 RECORDER BUT CAN'T FIND ENOUGH INFO ABOUT IT .

CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A DVD RECORDER AND THEIR REASONS FOR IT .

THANKS RICKY

What standalone players is he trying to play the DVD+R and DVD+RW disks on? Is he sure they're compatible with those disks?

DVD+RWs will play in virtually any DVD player made since 2000. DVD+R will be a little less compatible but anything made in the last year or so should be OK.

Is he trying to play them in DVD players from 1997-1999? That will be very hit and miss.

I have both Philips and Panasonic units in my business and the compatibility issue is blown SO out of proportion by everyone.

Well, the 444 should be compatible.

It might be the disks.
