Picture on Panasonic WidescreenHDTV just doesn't look right

Hi,
I just recently got a 53" Panasonic HDTV, I use my xbox as the dvd player and I have it hooked up with a High Def. pack. It doesn't seem like the picture is up to par, to where it should be....also, during some dark scenes, you can see a bunch of nasty vertical lines which makes the picture awful. Any help with tv settings, hookups, xbox settings, etc.....would be appreciated.

try a regular dvd player with progressive scan and component video out. your HDTV is meant to be viewed with component video inputs and progressive scan.

HDTV + component video input + progressive scan dvd = a perfect picture!!!

beside, an good progressive scan dvd player only runs around $200, consider what you've paid for the TV!

HDTV works wonderfully with HD sources..or Anamorphic DVD's. Unfortunately, SD material can look nasty...far more nasty than a non-HDTV.

My experience with the HD hooup for Xbox is mixed. SOme games look good..others..actually poorer than the SD hookup.

Also, non anamorphic DVD's will actually look worse on a HDTV than a SD set (at least that is my experience with some high end equipment). Even Plasma can look nasty with regular DVD's.
