Weird: Need a narrow DVD player.

Hi all,

I couldn't find this in the archives (no surprise there, given how weird this is) and I figured if anyone would know, it would be you all:

My brother-in-law built his own AV cabinet around his existing components. He did good work, too. The problem is that, apparently, the DVD player and VCR that were on top of one another were both unusually narrow. Neither one, apparently, was the standard 17" across. (The DVD player was, by the way, an old Proscan from back in the DIVX days.) The problem comes now that the DVD player has died. He's looking for something that's just a bit under 17" because the 17" model he tried was just barely too wide for the space.

I thought of the DVP-PQ1 Sony PSYC, but I haven't been impressed by what I've read about it.

So any suggestions for a 16" (or even 16-1/2") good DVD player? (See why this is hard to find in the archives?)

Any information would be really appreciated: I'm staying at his house in a couple of weeks and, damnit, I wanna watch my DVDs!

Thanks!

Go to Besbtbuy and bring your tape measure and just check all the dvd player displays. Sorry, just the simple idea.

Try crutchfield.com, they give product dimensions. Such as the Panasonic RP-62

I recall Sony having a player that you could either place horizontal or vertical.
