Need advice regarding Sony XBR

Hello, I'm new to this forum and high def tv.

Have been shopping for a Sony XBR and looking at the 40" model, KV-40XBR-700. Besides the DVI and memory stick, does anyone know the major differences between the 700 series and the new 800 series?

The existing 40" KV-40XBR-700 looks like a pretty good set and the price is coming down. However, are the new extras, especially DVI, important enough to wait for the new 800 model? Any advice on purchasing a KV-40XBR-700 at a clearance price or waiting for the new 800 series?

I believe you are talking about the 4:3 set, I was looking at this one also, but I wanted to get a widescreen tv first to watch movies, on but I will still need a good 4:3 set, and this one look amazing, by the way what is the cheapest you have seen it for so far.

About the dvi, is so hoolywood companies will want to realese there product in hi def and not have to worry about bootlegging.

The lowest price I have found for the Sony 40" KV-40XBR-700 is about $2500 including the stand and delivery at Tweeter. They still have several in stock, so I'm sure a lower price can be negociated.

I've got the 700, and I'm completely happy with it. This is the first time I've ever actually owned a TV and not thought about how soon it would be until I could upgrade.

I could've waited until the 800 came out, but I ended up negotiating the price down to around $2400 at my local Tweeter ( after showing them the price at Shopsunshine.com $2318.00). I bought an extended warranty/replacement plan, so if something goes kaput on this set down the road, I've actually got a good chance of having it replaced with the 800.

Two things:
1. Take into the account the price of the stand when buying. It's going to run you from at least $300. Sony's MSRP is $500, I believe.

2. Figure out where you want it well beforehand, and don't plan to move it without at least three people. The set weighs 300 lbs., and it's cumbersome.
