DVD Player temperature...running too hot?

I'm a bewildered first time DVD player purchaser.

I have the Sony NS315 Slimline and it runs extremely hot; by the end of a movie my VCR above it has heated up and the cover of the DVD player feels close to the "too hot to touch" level, though not quite.

Is this customary, or do I have a lemon that's burning itself out? I've only watched to about 5 dvds.

Thanks.

Some components run hot.

Is the player on top of your receiver?
Is the player geting adequate ventilation?

Be sure to address these questions first. If you are still concerned you can get small fans at Radio Shack to provide extra cooling.

I use to have the same problem with my Pioneer DV-533K as I place it on top of my receiver but since I used the cheap $5 cooling fan the problem is now solved.
