Cheap Widescreen TVs

For all you people with your widescreen televisions... what's a good medium-to-regular-sized one for a man on a budget?

I would go with either the 47" Panasonic which is $1699.99 at Circuit City or the 50" Toshiba which is $1999.99, I am buying the Panasonic, because I have only heard great reviews, plus the 50" Toshiba is to wide to fit in the space for a tv in my bedroom.

Just checked out Circuit City and the Panasonic 47" I think is on sale for cheaper than 1700 becuase on theri website it says to go to your local store for new price.

I have the previous model of the 47" Panny and highly recommend it. For the price, you're not going to do better... I haven't checked out this year's model yet but the reviews to date all seem to be about the same or better than the previous model.

One thing though, be prepared to do A LOT of tweaking to maximize your picture potential... Don't be scared away, the tweakability of the set is what sold me over the Toshiba... I can do many of the picture corrections (geometry, etc), focus, red push, etc, without having to worry about an outside tech and the time and trouble that comes with that...

Big disclaimer though... I have the set completely dedicated to anamorphic progressive scan DVD viewing. I watch nothing else on it, so I can't offer any input on how it functions on 4X3 material, interlaced DVD viewing, or other sources...

Read about the 47WX49E here... http://www.panny.tv/ The site is completely dedicated to the 47" inch Panny, previous model, but I'm going to assume that the current model of the set will operate much the same...
