B&W 600 series 2 vs. series 3

Does anybody know if there is an appreciable difference for the DM602 and LCR600 between the series 2 and series 3? I've listened to the series 3 and they sound great, but the 2's are about $100-150 less.

Is it worth getting the newer ones, I'm looking for these to be the last spekers I buy for the next 10 yrs. I'm going to use them with a Yamaha 5490.

I guess the first difference is that there is no LCR600 in series 2. Is the CC6 powerful enough for me if I'm driving it from a Yamaha 5490 and my viewing space is 14'x12' (Room is 24'x20')

If not will the timbre be matched if I got series 2 602's and series 3 LCR?

I am not sure but any changes are probably in driver material and style.

If you can a/b them that would be the way to go but the cc6 is a fine center speaker.

Series 3 sound so much cleaner than the series 2 speakers. I work in an A/V store and everyone else who works there agrees. The tweeters are re-designed I beleive, giving them an awesome sound. I have the entire 602-601-LCR60 Series 3 setup here at home and it is great. I would definitely spend the extra money, if you want the extra sound.

Thanks!!

If my listening space is 14x12 in a room that is 24x21, and I have a Yamaha 5490 reciever, do I need the LCR600 or will the LCR60 be strong enough.

I'm upgrading from an Infinity Video One center because I can't always make out the dialog.

Thanks again (as always for teaching me how this stuff works)

I'd get the one that matches your fronts. I'd even take my fronts into the store and set them up to see.
