Newbie needs help Sick and tired of my Sony S560D...I need help picking a new player.

I got a Sony DVP-S560D a few years ago, and i HATE it.

First off, Sony failed to honor my rebate for $50. They claimed that it was not purchased from an authorized dealer, but it was. I tired to reach them over and over about it, but never got anywhere.

If that wasn't enough, the damn thing doesn't play burned audio CDs, and can't play some of my movies.

For example,

The Simpsons DVD.... It won't go past a certain part, it just restarts the DVD.

The Game.... Won't play at all.

and i HATE it that I can see it switch layers on dual layer discs.

Anyway, I think it's time for a new player.

Can you guys recommend something that has a 5.1 decoder, can play burned audio, mp3s and all my movies more or less flawlessly??

I'm hoiping to get something decent in the $250 range.

Thanks in advance guys.

Panasonic

I would recommend my player, the Pioneer 47A but at a street price of $800 or so I guess that is out of the budget...

So I would say the Panasonic RP-62... should be had for around $200 or less.

The RP-62 does not have an onboard decoder, I own one. Great player but not what Kwyjibo is looking for...

Better get used to it, in your price range, there's no player on the market that I'm aware of that produces no pause on the layer change... Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but I've never seen one. I own a Sony and a Panasonic and the change is quicker on the Panny for what it's worth.

Your options are going to be limited with needing an onboard decoder, that's all I really know to help ya... Bumpity bump for someone else who can lend a hand.

just bought the DVP-NS500V from Crutchfield to replace my 530D.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9TfZDx...=158DVS500V&s=0

I picked it up for $179.99 and I get 5 free movies.

It has everything I want. Built in DD and DTS decoding and it plays VCD's as well as SVCD's. I chose it over the 400D because of the built in DTS decoding
Doesn't play MP3's though.

Check out this thread for SONY models to replace your 560D
