I need help selecting a SONY DVD player...

I am trying to get more information about 2 of SONY's DVD players. I need a player that has a built in DD decoder with the 5.1 output. In other words the back of the player should have 6 RCA wires coming out of it to hook into a DD ready receiver.
It appears as if SONY is going to stop making these type of players and I want to buy a new one before I can't get them anymore.

THe first on is a DVP-NS400D. Can anyone confirm this has a built in DD decoder? DOes anyone have a rear view of this player?

Does anyone know if Sony is making this other player and if it has a built in DD decoder? THe model # is DVP-NS755V.

both the ND-400D and NS-755V do indeed have DD/DTS decoders built in. you can check the info for yourself on www.crutchfield.com

why are you only looking at sony players though?

Because those are the only ones with a built in 5.1 DD (decoder)

I am not aware of others...

Is SONY making the NS755V? I can't find anyone with it in stock
I can't even find any info on their website...

Sears has the 755 listed on their website. However, plenty (if not all) manufacturers have DVD players with built-in decoders!

I would like you to show them to me. The only other manufacturer that I can find with a built in DD decoder is Yamah.

FYI, A built in DD decoder means the DVD player has 6 RCA jacks coming out of the DVD player to hook into the receiver. Like this picture shows.

Sears has it listed but they are not in stock. I can't find anyone with the item in stock. I want to find an official word from Sony if they are making this player...

Andremike -

For starters, I know what a DVD player with a built-in decoder looks like, but thanks for the pic! Without doing an exhaustive search, here's a few:

Denon DVD-1600
Integra DPS 7.2
JVC XV-S65GD
Mitsubishi DVD-8020
Panasonic DVD-RP91 and soon-to-be-released DVD-RP82
Philips DVD953AT
RCA RC6001P
Samsung DVD-P701
Toshiba SD-4700, 5700, and 9200
Zenith DVD2381

Enough? And that doesn't even include the offerings from Sony or Yamaha.

Happy hunting!

Andremike -

Nothing wrong with being partial to Sony DVD players - I have a three-year old DVPS-530D that has served me well! I'm actually looking to get a progressive scan player now to go with my new 16:9 RPTV that is due in next week. I would love to buy another Sony, and am looking at the new 755, but it appears that all the Sony proscan players have the chroma bug - and that's something I can't live with! Again, happy hunting!

Sony DVP-NS500V at the sonystyle store for $229 plus free shipping.

has decoding of both dolby digital and DTS. it is being discontinued so it may get hard to get. the sonystyle store has it and Best Buy B&M did have it in the Audio section not the dvd player section

I just bought the DVP-NS500V from Crutchfield to replace my 530D.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9TfZDxr...158DVS500V&s=0

I picked it up for $179.99 and I get 5 free movies.

It has everything I want. Built in DD and DTS decoding and I read that it plays SVCD's. I chose it over the 400D because of the built in DTS decoding.

I wanted to get the 755 but I really have no use for the progressive scan. Whats this chroma bug?
