I don't think you're gonna find a portible without a screen.

I'm doing the same thing

I am using an Interact PS One LCD screen with a portable Lasonic DVD player.

Here's the Lasonic Player

I got the DVD player from HSN.COM a few months ago. It cost around $90.

It works pretty well. I got a little audio converter at bestbuy that broadcasts the audio via FM to my car stereo, so everyone in the car can hear the sound, too.

Also how has it held up?

I don't know where to get one now. You could try a search at google or e-mail the manufacturer and ask.
It's worked pretty well so far. The only DVD playback related issue I've seen was just the other day.
We were travelling, with movies playing, and Tommy Boy kept frezzing up during playback for no apparent reason. It hadn't happened before. We will be traveling home later today, I'll see if it happens again.
