never heard of that, but in general the c13xx errors mean the disc is dirty (or sometimes the lens), but those errors are usually displayed on the dvd player's display, not the tv screen

My 1.5 yrs old Sony DVD also displays the error C13:00 for some DVD diskettes, both on screen (non-component output) and DVD's display.

It back to normal after I did the DVD calibration as below:

Do it as your own risk.

But I'm wondering since your machine is a new one, the problem may be due to your DVD disk.

C1300 is definitely the 'dirty disc' error
to fix it make sure the disc is clean or try a lens cleaning disc

For my case, clearing the disk and the DVD head don't improve th conduction, and that why I did the re-calibration.

2 or 3 times I had to unplug my Sony DVD player for about 10 minutes to fix error codes that would not go away. After plugging it back in, the DVD player worked just fine. I have had the Sony player for 2 years now and the last time the problem has happened was 6 months ago.

I had the same issue. Basically, you are all right with my experience.

1) Usually, it is because the DVD player is VERY sensitive to anything on the disc (small smudges, hairs, light streak, etc.). 70% of the time, a good cleaning will fix the problem.

2) A few times, cleaning doesn't work so I unplug for 2 minutes and it will usually work.

3) When all else was failing for me and I kept getting the c:13:XX errors about every third disc, I gave in and did the calibration. Things have worked GREAT since then (probably only 2 errors in the last 3 months...which were quickly fixed by a good cleaning). Note: make sure you do the single and dual sided format.

Do you have your manual? In the troubleshooting section, there is probably a topic about these diagnostic messages... I was just going through my manual for my Sony DVD player (DVP-S360) today, and there was a topic in mine. Check it out and see what it says to do.
