Passive Subwoofer Help!!! (Please)
I'm setting up a 5.1 home theater for my dad. He has a Pioneer VSX-D710S receiver, 5 speakers, and a passive subwoofer (Canton Subwoofer Plus C).
How do I hook up that sub???
The receiver is PIONEER: VSX-D710S with:
Sub w Preout
Front A Left +/- (taken by main speaker left)
Front A Right +/- (taken by main speaker right)
Front B Left +/-
Front B Right +/-
Center +/- (taken by center speaker)
Center Preout
Surround Left +/- (taken by surround speaker left)
Surround Right +/- (taken by surround speaker right)
The sub is CANTON: Subwoofer Plus C with:
Amplifier Connection Left +/-
Amplifier Connection Right +/-
Sattelite Speaker Left +/-
Sattelite Speaker Right +/-
The receiver manual only mentions hooking up the sub thru a sub out, but the subwoofer has inputs only for speaker wire. Can I use that sub at all?

Just run the sub in between your receiver and your mains, and set the main speakers to 'large' in your receiver.
That's the really, really short version of how to do it.
I'm sure someone with more time on their hands would be happy to come in and fill in the blanks

so, in my case, I should run speaker wire from:
1. Receiver Front A Left to Sub Amplifier Connection Left
2. Receiver Front A Right to Sub Amplifier Connection Right
3. Sub Sattelite Speaker Left to Speaker Front Left
4. Sub Sattelite Speaker Right to Speaker Front Right
OR
1. Receiver Front A Left to Sub Amplifier Connection Left
2. Receiver Front A Right to Sub Amplifier Connection Right
3. Receiver Front A Left to Speaker Front Left
4. Receiver Front A Right to Speaker Front Right
Sorry for the stupidity of the second set of possible connections: it assumes that you can attach 2 speaker wires to the same receiver output (which I would think you should not do).
So what should I do exactly?

2. Receiver Front A Right to Sub Amplifier Connection Right

4. Receiver Front A Right to Speaker Front Right
