Could this damage my reciever?

I have my PC running into my reciever via the s/pdif connection. I just got a dish and I would also like to hook it up through s/pdif, but I only have one jack. Can I use some sort of y-cable/splitter to hook them both up, I was thinking about a 1100mhz cable splitter and F connecter to RCA adapters. I use my PC to scale the video from my sat, so turning the PC off wouldn't be an option. The only other option I can think of would be to get a sound card with 5.1 analog outputs, but I can't afford that for now. So I guess I'm asking if anyone thinks it'll be okay if I ensure that the PC is on but with the volume at min when I'm watching sat, and the satelite reciever off when I'm using the PC.
