Regular Tivo and Dish Network Help

I know that you can get a Tivo with an integrated Dish receiver, but how do I use my regular Tivo with a standard dish receiver. I don't know the model number of the receiver but it uses a UHF remote.

Do I need special equipment to use my Tivo remote to control the receiver? Thanks.

do you have the model numbers of the Tivo and the receiver?
if they're sony and you post the model numbers (usually on the front of the unit, ex. if it's a sony tivo it'll probably be svr2000) I'll try to get some info for you, but it won't be until monday when I get to work

My Tivo is the standard 14-hour Philips Tivo. I hacked it to add more recording time. The Dish Network receiver is model 4922. I have access to another receiver, but it is pretty old. I don't have the number with me right now. Thanks you the help. Let me know if you need any more information.

I have the Dish Network and a Philips Tivo. What you have to do is connect this thing to the back of the tivo. It has a little glass light thing on it (like a remote control) and you just set it ontop of your Dish receiver and it hangs down in front of the Dish's IR signal receiver. For like a regular remote. My dish uses a UHF remote also, but it still has the ability to receive a regular remote (IR) signal in the front.

Sorry that I cannot go into detail, im in my dorm right now and my Dish and Tivo are in my room at home. I don't even remember if that attachment thing came with the Tivo or the Dish Receiver.

Try:

The thing you mentioned that hangs down, is that what they call an "IR Blaster" or something? When this is all done, will I use my Tivo remote or my Dish remote?
