Best Flat TV for $800

I've been looking at a 32' Sony Wega at Good Guys for around 800 plus they are offering no interest fro 2 years.

Any other options?

I'm looking for best bang for the buck, I don't care about PIP, Component would be nice, and 16x9... am I dreaming?

I currently have an old 27' Toshiba and I like there new sets also.

Where in No. Cali are you? If you're near th Bay Area, there's a Sears outlet in near Alemeda which has some GREAT deals on TV's.

I had a 27' VVega and just purchased a 32' VVega from them for a little over $800.

Here's the model I got:

If you're in this area, it's worth checking out. All electronics from there come with full factory warr, and you can even pay for extended 'home service' warr. from Sears if you feel inclined to do so.

If you're in the Bay Area, and would like more info on this store, and location... go ahead and email me.

Keyser, is that model a high definition TV? I couldn’t find that “term” used in Sony’s description, but I figured that there was a component that I’m unaware of that defines “high definition”.
If that’s an HDTV, that’s a killer price.

(Did they have many more in stock?)

Good Guys has 10% off everything right now.

Keyser…YOU DA MAN!!!!!

I went to the outlet in San Leandro and scoped out what they had. Well, I checked the model number of the one that caught my eye and it was an HD (maybe not “truly”, but it does f**kin’ look good). My roommate gave a lift there the next day and it was still there. Paid $1513.10 with a 3 year warranty when I shoulda been payin’ around $1950.
Rearranged the whole living room too accommodate the frikkin’ giant thing and have been spending all day rediscovering my favorite shite (upgraded from a dying 27” Zenith to a 32” Sony).
In short, I’m STOKED and your advice was bona fide. Kudos to this site for being one of the most amazing resources that I’ve ever come across. Not to mention some of the funny jokes I get to hear here.

I’m leaving now to go finish watching Buckaroo Banzai :D

Sear Outlet
1936 West Ave 140th
San Leandro, CA
94577

Take 880 North towards Oakland.

Exit west on "Marina Blvd" going up and over the freeway. Go to the first singal light and make a left hand turn. Then you'll stay on that street for about 3/4 of a mile, and then you'll see the Sears outlet on your right hand side. It's basically just a large wherehouse that sells open box, etc.

You'll have a better selection if you go down midweek, as the place gets slammed, and sells out of all their best stuff on weekends. I went back and forth to the store 4 or 5 times before I found the exact set I wanted. Like I said in the thread, I picked up that VVega set for $839 at the outlet.

If you sign up for a Sears card there, they also give you an additional $10-15 dollars off your purchase.

Good luck, and let me know if you end up finding a TV! I had the 27' VVega, and when mom needed a 27', I gave that one to her, and got myself the 32!

btw Kudama, I don't think the set I got was HDtv ready... but the way I looked at it was, that I wanted a great set to watch dvds on. I'll wait 5 years or so and purchase an HDtv when the sets drop in price some. Until then, I love this VVega! :D
