Calling all Satellite Speaker Experts
I'm trying to find a good satellite 5.1 speaker set thats good for music and obviously movies. And a good receiver to run it.
This is what I've come up with so far..... Budget around $1500 - $2500 for the satellites Boston Acoustics 10K/PV 800 Sub Paradigm "System 5" Definitive Technology ProCinema 200.6 and around $500 - $1000 for the receiver Onkyo TXDS 575 or 696 Denon 1802 or 2802 In my previous post the Nakamichi Soundspace 10 may not work out for my father (esp. since it doesn't have 5 channel stereo feature) Any other suggestions? We really don't have time to run around demo-ing equipment. |
Im curious-what Polk speakers do you currently have and why are you replacing them?

All Polks:
Center: CS245i Front Mains: RT800i Rear Surrounds: f/x300i Subwoofer: PSW350i Powered by Onkyo TX-DS 484 I recently upgraded my main fronts from the RT35i to the RT800i. The RT35i's were great but the RT800i gives a bit fuller (midrange) sound. For music Polk RT's gives me detail and imagery I never noticed before. I was also concerned about lack of juice from my Onkyo but no probs. All speakers set to "small" and my 5.1 speakers gives me all that I can take :D...and more. And no I am not replacing this system. I demoed quite a few (Infinity, Energy, Klipsch,JBL, Bose :D)and I liked the sound of the Polks best. And at this price point I doubt I could have done better. Extremely satisfied. My question was about potential systems I should consider for my father if he decides to return HIS Nakamichi Soundspace10 system. I was underwhelmed compared to my system priced considerably less. |
I have the POLK RM6600 sat set..with a POLK PSW350..sounds great on movies..music is a little lacking but still not bad

With the buget you are looking at I would seriously consider not going with a sub sat system but for more of bookshelf and a sub. Like the Mini monitors from Paradigm or the 600 series from B&W or even go out on a limb and try the Swan Divas. and for the reciever with the amount your looking to spend I would look at the Onkyo 797 or the Denon 3802 but that is just me personally. Also Def Tech makes a really nice speaker also. Just my 2 cents
